Drought Area Data: Tables
The data below represent the area coverage of the different categories of drought for the Colorado River Basin and sub-basins within Arizona. Data are provided for the timeframes of 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 months, which can be used to represent different forms of drought (e.g., meteorological, agricultural, hydrological). The range of MBDI values associated with the different drought categories are:
| >30th percentile | No Drought |
|---|---|
| >20th and =30th percentiles | Abnormally Dry |
| >10th and =20th percentiles | Moderate Drought |
| >5th and =10th percentiles | Severe Drought |
| >2nd and =5th percentiles | Extreme Drought |
| <=2nd percentile | Exceptional Drought |
